Virtue

People go to church, attend seminars, pray, meditate, chant mantras, and practice different techniques of spirituality or personality development and during those time of quite contemplation they feel very at peace, calm and one with God.

And then after a few hours... reverts back to their old habits like cursing, getting pissed of at the traffic, self-pity, gossiping about another person, criticisms, gives their negative opinion about a Facebook status, do drugs, cheats in business, participate in corruption, wanting to be right, entering into arguments, still doesn't do anything productive with their life, drinks, thinks negatively about somebody and all those stuffs that seem to negate the true essence of spiritual development.

I used to be guilty of this too. I grew up seeing a lot of people especially in my family, the church and school who are like this. And It came to a point in my life that I started to question why. And I said, I am not a tree why not change it, and I did.

I'm not saying they are bad. They were also a victim of herd mentality (everybody is doing it, maybe its right) and until they snap out of this cultural trance it will be hard for them to break free from it.

Doing Spiritual techniques and traditions works and you get the maximum benefit of it when you begin to make it part of your being. In thought, word and action. We are human beings not human doings.

For a person to fully utilize his spiritual progress she should adhere to what the Greeks call 'Apeth' or in Latin 'Virtus' to put it simply, in english VIRTUE.

Virtue is a positive trait or quality that is geared towards moral excellence. This is valued as a foundation of principle and good moral being.

Virtue is higher than skill sets, success techniques, law of attraction, or any business principle out there.

Virtue is a pattern of thought and behavior based on high moral standards. And Integrity in the application of a Virtue ensures its continuity, and this continuity, separates a Virtue from beliefs, opinion and ideas.

"Consistency guarantees success, inconsistency guarantees failure."-Anonymous

It means that through your spiritual practice or tradition you want to be consistent with it in everything you do, in all areas of your life(Family, Health, Relationships, Spirituality, Money). Your spiritual development does not stop in the church, in praying or in meditating. Means that you continue as you go about your everyday routine in thought, word and action.

You continue your spiritual practice and tradition (peace of mind, stillness, oneness with God) in your work, how you deal with friends, family and loved ones, when you drive, when you Facebook or twitter, when you go to the grocery, when you go to a party, when you attend a meeting, when you go to the mall, when you commute, ride the elevator, you go to a date and in everything you do, apply your VIRTUE.

"In everything you do, put God first, and He will direct you and crown your efforts with success." - Proverbs 3:6
