Think For Yourself

Just when you think you know something, you have to look at it in another way....

"Boys, you must strive to find your own voice. Because the longer
you wait to begin, the less likely you are to find it at
all. Thoreau said, "Most men lead lives of quiet desperation.
Don't be resigned to that. Break out!"
-John Keating

Don't let other people tell you what to do.

Are you familiar with this saying "What would other people say?"

Most people live their lives to be somebody they are not. They live to please other people's expectations. Expectations of their parents, families, teacher, communities, government, church, society, school, boss, leader, colleagues.

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”-Steve Jobs

People make promises to other people and to themselves. They go to school with a degree their parents told them to take. They get married because of the opinions of the society. They go into relationships just not to feel left out. They buy fancy cars and become rich to please other people they don't like. They buy cellphones and computers because that is what other people are telling them to buy not because they want it. They want to be billionaires because the media tells them to be one, thinking that the material things in life will make them happy.

"If you don't get what you want, you suffer; if you get what you don't want, you suffer; even when you get exactly what you want, you still suffer because you can't hold on to it forever. Your mind is your predicament. It wants to be free of change. Free of pain, free of the obligations of life and death. But change is law and no amount of pretending will alter that reality."-Peaceful Warrior

And this creates a pressure in their lives where they are pushed to their limits most of the time and they wonder why they are unhappy.

Then they rationalize that as long as they live up to other people's expectations it will be alright and they will be happy. But they never become happy.

"Watching Television is what you call entertainment. It is not a good avenue of learning about your career, financial market, spirituality or relationship."

It's easy to detect if you were programmed by the media and pressured by other people. First, look at all your stuffs if you have something right now that you don't use or need and just laying there in your room, chances are you were brainwashed by advertising to buy that stuff if you have more than enough cellphone, shoes, bags, car or house you were brainwashed too.

Second, if you are in a career or business or relationship and you feel a pressure to save face then you are living up to other people's standards.

"The Greatest things in life are not things."-Prince

As you go back and remember when you were young. When somebody ask you what you want to become, most of you probably have said. "I want to become a pilot!" or " a teacher!" or "a doctor!" or "musician!" or maybe even "a princess!" and you said this with all smiles and full of energy.

Then while growing up you started to think What other people would say. And that started the down turn.

Most peoples dreams are not to get a house, cars, money, or whatever the speaker tells you. You alone know what you want. Stop and think for a moment what do you really want. Don't let the media and other people program you and tell you what you want.

"People fail, because that is not their dream."-Russell

In my case, I don't work for money, I work for values, and ideals.. The sad truth is most people chase on dreams that don't matter because, we were programmed to be that way. We all know that our true purpose in this world is not to accumulate money and material things, this life we have is a spiritual one. And a expression of God's divinity the funny thing is that most people still subscribed to that "idea" that money and material things is all there is to life?

Most business people abuse the word service but actually they just use the word "service" to control people to do what they want. Their idea of service is about control and that is slavery.

"My Momma said there's only so much fortune a man really needs and the rest is
just for showing off."-Forrest Gump

When I started to make money I always ask myself if I really need a big house and lots of cars or even the latest gadgets to make me happy. Because, that is what I see in the television, that is what my neighbor is doing, that is what the speaker who makes a 7 digit income tell me to do. Then I started to think for myself and blocked all these outside influences. There I found the answers deep within me.

I begin to realized that what I really want is to have enough money, read a book everyday, have a nice car, be with the people I love, and live my life the way God intended it to be, a good life, Which is a life of Virtue and High Ideals.

"To do all the things you want to do, and be all the things you want to be. It does include some tools and gadgets, so be it, but they are either means to an end or bonuses, not the focus. To have more quality and less clutter. To have huge financial reserves and recognize that most material wants are justifications for spending time on the things that don't really matter, including buying things and preparing to buy things. Just spent two weeks negotiating your new Infiniti with the dealership and got $10,000 off? That's great. Does your life have a purpose? Are you contributing anything useful to this world, or just shuffling papers, banging on a keyboard, and coming home to a drunken existence on the weekends?"-Timothy Ferris, 4 hour workweek

I rather spend most of my time building things that would last forever like relationships, businesses I am passionate about, health, a spiritual life of Virtue.

Don't conform. Know who you are. Stand up and be a man. Find out for yourself what you truly want to do with your life. You have the right to express yourself and occupy your space on earth. Go get that dream, approach that girl, travel to that place, fall in love, voice out what you think.

"Success is not having a lot of money. Success is the development of a person's character to it's fullest potential in all areas."

Because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

This life you have is a spiritual journey not a material existence. Are you living your life or living someone else's? You were born an original don't die a copy.

What is your dream?

"It is a useless life not consecrated to a great ideal,
it is like stone wasted in the field and not being part of an edifice."
-Jose Rizal
